Firstly, we must apologise again on behalf of Bourg St Maurice that  the funicular is still not finished its repairs in time for our race today.

But it’s OK, we have a back-up plan!

We hope that things will work out just great, but we hope you can appreciate that it’s a really big challenge to shuttle 300 riders, with only a few days’s notice to organise everything!

(For Day 2 and Day 3 they have promised us, the funicular WILL be ready).

You will take 2 bus shuttles on Day 1  – check your departure time and please arrive at Laboshop 15 minutes early to collect your chip and to load your bike (first bus is 8h00 for teams 1-25).

Please remember to wear your mask on the bus, on the lift and even in the lift queue, and in all restaurants and bars.

Our next challenge is: there is more snow at altitude here in July, than I have ever seen in 22 years of guiding here!   We made a final check this week, and its just completely impossible to run our two highest stages  of the race (SP1 on Day 1 and SP2 on Day 2).  This is clearly indicated on the course maps, and the course has already been re-routed so that you will not get stuck up there in the deep snow.

We had planned to drop you at the Col de Petit St Bernard (In Italy!).  But because of the snow, it’s not possible.  You will arrive in the coach, directly at the start of the second stage at the ski station of La Rosiere. (This is now called SP1).

After SP2, return to Laboshop to check your timing.  There will be a delay of about 60 to 90 minutes before your next shuttle arrives, to take you to SP3.  We recommend you enjoy our BONUS loop while you are waiting…then take your lunch at the Tonneau Restaurant (this is included with your Enduro2 entry) before you return to Laboshop for your 2nd shuttle.

You have two options for the BONUS loop – a short loop (450m climb, 45 – 75 minutes to complete the loop) and a longer loop which we recommend (650m climb, 60 – 100 minutes to complete the loop).

If you would prefer to take a longer break, you can go directly to the Tonneau Restaurant, when you are ready, to eat your lunch.  (Click the google maps link on the second page of the course map, if you need it).

Your second shuttle will arrive at Arc 1600 station.  You will then take the Cachette chairlift for SP3.  For SP4 and SP5 you will to ride a 30-45 minute iiaison.

SP5 finishes at the Enduro2 Lodge.   There will be beers by our friends at SAPAUDIA Brewing Co, music from COOLBUS and we hope you will all stay for at least one drink (or more!) and to share some high-fives! even if you are not sleeping at the Lodge.  Please take some cash (Euros) …..there is no cash-machine in the forest (!)

We thought the other challnges were already enough….but as a special surprise The Mayor has instructed his staff to remove all our signs and arrows for our liaisons coming through the town of Bourg St Maurice!   We think that you probably won’t get lost….you just need to remember to return to Laboshop next to Macdonalds after SP2.   Remember, you can use the links in the daily course maps to directly access google maps directions to find your way back to LaboShop and to Le Tonneau Restaurant for your lunch.
