Frequently Asked Questions
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The Sportity App allows us to distribute essential & emergency information direct to your phone, throughout the weekend.
Race maps and emergency instructions will be stored offline on your phone so you can still use them, even if you have no mobile signal.
You will need a password to access the Enduro2 racer portal – please check your email to find the password. This password and instructions will be emailed to you in May/June.
(Check your spam too. If you still don’t have it, ask your race buddy or whoever completed your registration).
Install the Sportity app at these links:
This app is free to use (as organisers, we pay to use it). It does not have any ads or collect any of your personal or phone’s usage information.
This is the only the key points; you need to install the Sportity app to get the full info relevant to your Race Venue.
The event is centered around a nice area, usually the biggest bar in town. Check each event page to find out where it is.
Camper vans must be pre-booked via your race registration (and you will be allocated a space at our nearby camper-van event park).
Registration Opens at 14:30 on Friday at our HQ (see above)
A race briefing will be held at HQ on Friday end of afternoon.
(This is not mandatory – all essential information will be provided via our Sportity Mobile Phone App).
Last registration is at 19:30.
If you experience travel difficulties and think you may miss registration:
a) Do you have friends who can collect your race numbers for you? We allow this, if you tell us in advance by email.
b) Email us on gabi@enduro2.org to tell us you are definitely coming, but you’ll miss registration.
c) Please call (for emergencies only)
Gabi (English/Czech): +33 7 88 54 54 93
Quentin: (French): (+33 6 24 67 89 70)
We will try to pre-register you over the phone and in that case you will need to collect your race number and timing chip from HQ on Saturday morning at 8.30 am. Make sure you’ve got all documents needed.
BBQ, PARTY AND MUSIC at HQ. Its going to be a BIG party!
We recommend you plan to stay the night in the resort on Monday!
If you want to stay longer there, of course there are many family activities and lots of extra riding to discover in the Area.
Please contact the local tourist office for more info.
For 2025 onwards we are pleased to report a recent change in the rules in France which also align with our Swiss events. There is no longer a default mandatory requirement to have a valid medical certificate to race.
Instead, riders can chose to complete a health questionnaire which asks you about your known health conditions and family history.
How you answer these questions will indicate if you are required to have a medical examination and get a medical certificate, or not.
Our recommendation is still to get a medical checkup with a Doctor and get a medical certificate just to be safe. Statistically speaking, there are a significant number of apparently healthy, sporty adults among us who have an underlying medical condition – particularly heart conditions – that can lead to serious health problems when exercising competitively. These medical checks aim to pick-up these undiagnosed conditions and ultimately, save lives.
ACTION REQUIRED – ALL RIDERS
a) if you have a UCI Race license (valid this year) then we do accept this instead of a medical certificate AND/OR personal insurance.
b) If you already have a doctor-issued medical certificate then please bring this to registration.
or
c) If you don’t already have a medical certificate, you may chose instead to bring your completed medical questionnaire to registration instead. Unless you have pre-existing health conditions, this is now enough to be considered fit to race (without needing a doctor-issued medical certificate).
Note that in this section we are talking about personal accident, medical costs, and liability insurance, not cancelation insurance.
The first and most important thing to note here is that if you live in the EU or UK , you should get an EHIC or GHIC (UK) card from your government before you travel. This will ensure you are treated in hospital in Switzerland efficiently, at minimal cost to yourself, and with minimal paperwork.
Switzerland – INSURANCE IS MANDATORY
Medical Insurance and Civil Liability cover are a legal requirement to race in Switzerland. Please ensure you’ve got cover and bring documentation to prove it. We’ll do random spot checks at registration, and you’ll be required to make a formal declaration, that you have valid cover in place.
FRANCE – INSURANCE IS RECOMMENDED
Insurance is not compulsory, but we strongly recommend it. A comprehensive medical and rescue emergency cover is highly recommended for all competitors as well as travel insurance that covers you for cancellation or curtailment of the event due to unforeseen circumstances such as extreme weather, natural disaster etc. In particular, the organisers have no provision for accommodation and/or ownard support for any competitor needing to remain in hospital overnight after the event.
Our Suggestion for Insurance
We’ve done our research and found suitable cover at a fair price. It covers you both if you live in the EU, or not (i.e. Switzerland, UK, USA) and does not exclude MTB Amateur Racing like many other policies. Of course, you must check the terms to make sure it has the cover you need for your own specific circumstances. To be clear, this is not a recommendation nor advice about the right insurance cover for your needs and individual circumstances. If you do take this cover, Enduro2 earns a €2 comission. But what is more important to us, is that you find the right cover, for your indivudal needs!
Alternatively, of course, please arrange your own cover elsewhere, or include it in your own travel insurance policy, if you have one.
Further Info
a) Medical Insurance – Covers you for any medical costs for treatment after an accident, and possibly medical repatriation which is your costs to travel home safely, following a hospital stay.
b) Rescue Insurance is usually part of medical insurance – this covers the costs for external intervention such as if we need to call a helicopter or mountain rescue to evacuate you from a difficult mountain environment.
c) 3rd party Liability Cover – This is to insure you against your actions causing loss or injury to a 3rd party, for example if you crash into another rider and they decide to pursue you for damages to their person or property (bike). But please note that Enduro2’s terms and conditions require that you release the organisers and all other riders and spectators from this liability, when you chose to race Enduro2.
d)If you have a UCI Race licence then usually this includes suitable insurance (please check your policy).
Yes, if you have a UCI Race license (valid this year) then we do accept this instead of a medical certificate AND/OR personal insurance.
PLEASE BRING A PHOTOCOPY – we need to keep it for our own records.
The Full-course Enduro2 is an adult event, but we absolutely recognise that it’s also the perfect format for father-and-son teams. And let’s face it, we there are plenty of teenage shredders out there who know how to put their own father to shame on the trail! Enduro2 therefore welcomes entries from responsible riders aged 15 and above (age on the 1st day of the race), but only if they are riding as part of a 2-person team with their parent or legal guardian.
In Meribel (and Meribel only) a 30% shorter course is available to riders aged 12 or older on race day, as long as they are accompanied by an adult as their team-mate. You’ll compete against other teams for a place on the podium in The Young & Old Special Category.
YES! We use with Engage-Sport.com for all registrations. All entry fees are held securely by Engage-Sport.com via a trust account until after the event is completed, and will be returned to you in full directly by Engage-Sport, in the unlikely event of financial failure on the part of us, the organisers/event promoters.
Furthermore, since all entries are paid by Credit/Debit card (MasterCard, Visa), In addition to the above security via Engage-Sport, you are protected by your card issuer, who would be obliged refund you directly in full for any losses incurred, in the worst case scenario.
See “Our Financial Protection Guarantees” below for more details.
We of course love to have locals involved in our race ! Maybe we’ll show you trails you’ve never ridden before? 🙂
If you have your liftpass already, please contact us at info@enduro2.com BEFORE registration and send us a proof of your season liftpass and let us know your name(s) (+ tell us if it’s for both team member or only you). We’ll send you a discount code of 50€/pers to register without liftpass (Verbier & Meribel only)
No refund can be made after registration.
At registration, each rider must sign to confirm that they have read, understand and agree to these terms and our liability disclaimer.
Instead, we will simply check your medical certificate / questionaire or UCI license at registration.
Please bring a photocopy with you because you must give it to us, to register (we will not return it).
Our Categories are age and sex-based, but remember that this is a TEAM race so you must add together the ages of BOTH riders to find your category.
The age that counts is your age on Day 1 of the race.
For Female and Mixed teams, there is only one category (all ages).
Mixed team = 1 male + 1 female
E-bikes are welcome. If ONE rider has an ebike then you must register in the e-bike category (regardless of your age).
For Male-only teams there are three options
At select events we also have a special ‘Young and Old’ category where one rider must be aged 12 to 16 years old.
Why don’t we have age-based female and mixed categories? Quite simply, we don’t get enough female participants to fill several separate age categories. We are working to change that and we already have up to 20% female riders which is much better than most races. In future we hope we can attract more female riders and if we do, we’ll change this!
Non-Binary riders are welcome, and we recommend that you enter the Mixed Category….although you can enter any category you wish.
After all, at Enduro2 we don’t really focus on winners because
THE ONLY TIME THAT COUNTS, IS HAVING A GOOD TIME
Yes! There are always riders looking to find a team-mate. Or, maybe somebody got injured, so you can make a new team with somebody who already has a registration for Enduro2.
Sorry, we no longer offer Solo Rider options. Enduro2 is a pairs-only event (Teams of 2).
The atmosphere is super friendly and very welcoming, so if you’re on your own, why not find the perfect riding buddy by using our team-mate finder service? (Please don’t be shy! We have dozens of riders every year who ask us to help them find a partner).
From 2024 onwards, there is no longer a Team-of-3 option.
Enduro2 was conceived as a pairs-format race, and whilst we love teams-of-3, this causes some problems and delays with the logistics of the event.
It’s been a tough call to drop this category, but we think overall it is for the best, for everyone!
Why not find a 4th rider and make 2 teams of 2? (There is nothing to stop you from riding as a group of four, in a two-tea-party-train!).
Use our team-mate finder forum if you need help finding an extra rider. (See “find a team-mate” above)
IMPORTANT: YOUR RACE ENTRY AND ACCOMMODATION ARE NOT LINKED AS A PACKAGE.
YOU MUST MODIFY AND / OR CANCEL EACH, SEPARATELY.
IF CONTACTING US ABOUT YOUR ENTRY, PLEASE TELL US IF YOU HAVE ALSO BOOKED ACCOMMODATION.
Change your Team-Mate
Team member substitutions (1 RIDER ONLY)* are possible, free of charge, up to 14 days before the race.
See instructions below ‘Change Your Team-Mate‘ to do this yourself via engage-sport.
*It is not possible to transfer your team’s race entry, to another new team (you can only change one team-mate!).
So you can change only 1 rider, or, you must cancel your registration and request a refund.
No Rider changes, team name changes, cancelations or refunds will be accepted FOR ANY REASON, within 14 days of the race.
Cancel Your Registration
The following Cancelation fees apply:
>15 weeks before the event: 75 Euros per rider (150 Euros per team of 2).
15 to 8 weeks before the race: 50% of your team’s registration fee (50% refund).
8 to 4 weeks before the race: 75% of your team’s registration fee (25% refund)
Within 4 weeks of the race: no refund, sorry
If your team member drops out but you still wish to race, this is OK and you are fine to ride the course solo, or team up with another rider who also lost their team-mate, when you get to the resort (this happens a lot, and you will have a great time!).
Note : In addition to our policy, you may subscribe to an external cancellation insurance at the time of registration to cover yourself in case of any justified reason preventing you from participating in the race.
In Case We Cancel Enduro2
If the organisers are forced to cancel the event due to factors outside of our control, we will try to offer a full refund, but this will be dependent on the circumstances under which the event was cancelled. For example if the event is cancelled or curtailed at short notice due to force majeure – since unavoidable costs are incurred by the organisers in the run up to the event.
Examples that may prevent the race from going ahead as planned include but are not limited to: extreme weather (lift or road closures), safety concerns or severe rider injury causing the course to be closed, timing system failure, failure of one one of the event’s safety-critical suppliers to deliver, closure or failure of the public ski-lift system, a major road / transport incident which blocks access to the resort, the withdrawal of authorisation to run the event by local competent authorities.
With the above in mind, we therefore strongly suggest that you take out a cancellation insurance policy that would cover your personal financial losses in this eventuality.
This applies only to your accommodation costs only if you booked an apartment/hotel room with us, not to your race entry fee, and also not to an appartment/hotel room you’d have booked directly with one of our accommodation partners, who apply their own policy.
Cancelation fee varies by the amount of notice you can give us to cancel:
More than 8 weeks – 50% cancellation fee (50% refund)
Less than 8 weeks – no refund is possible, sorry.

IMPORTANT: YOUR RACE ENTRY AND ACCOMMODATION ARE NOT LINKED AS A PACKAGE.
YOU MUST MODIFY AND / OR CANCEL EACH, SEPARATELY. (Please Tell us, when emailing!)
If you have problems modifying your entry online, try again using a desktop computer (not a mobile phone)
OR
B) Go to this page and searching for “enduro2” in the search bar (top right). Select the relevant Enduro2 event that you have an entry for (eg this year’s race!) and then use the blue button which says “find my entry”. If you don’t receive an email confirmation link, please remember to check your spam folder.
OR
C) Find the confirmation email that we sent to you when you registered (this came from ‘ne-pas-repondre@engage-sports.com’).
Click the green button at the bottom of the email, to directly access (and modify) your registration details.
Follow the instructions as above for race entry, but you need to click the link to book accommodation on the registration page of the Enduro2 website, (NOT the button to register for the race)
Remember that your accommodation is a separate reservation that is NOT automatically linked to your Enduro2 Race entry. The Engage-sport system treats this as a separate “race” registration.
If you used the same username / email address then both reservations should appear in your user profile, once you have successfully logged in.
Please follow the instructions in how to update your email or phone number (below) to step (3).
THEN:
When in the “My Registration” page, select:
‘MODIFICATION REQUEST’ button (at step 4)
You can edit your response to your accommodation question on the form, and you should then be taken to the credit card page to pay a small additional fee for the parking and access to shower and toilet facilities.
TO REMOVE YOUR CAMPERVAN BOOKING
Follow the above process, and un-select your campervan choice, in the accommodation section, before you submit your request.
We will approve the change and refund the price to your credit card automatically within 5 days.
Please email us if you have technical difficulties with this process.
4) At the right side of the screen, click the white button marked “Transferer à un autre participant”
5) You can select the drop-down menu to auto-fill the details already stored on our system for your team, or click “ne pas remplacer” to make no changes for that team member).
6) Update your phone number and email details as needed, then click “Next”
7) Check and validate your changes on the next screen by clicking the green button “Valider le transfert”
You will get a confirmation link sent to your new email address, which you must click to confirm the change. Please check your spam / junk folder!
If you are still having trouble, Follow These PDF Instructions to access your existing registration online and edit your rider details.
Follow the instructions for “How to update your email and phone number” as above…
NO TEAM CHANGES POSSIBLE, WITHIN 14 DAYS OF THE RACE
Be aware that if you have at least 1 e-bike in your team, then you must enter the e-bike category. There is only 1 category for e-bike (your sex and age does not matter).
Please follow the instructions in how to update your email or phone number (above) to step (3).
THEN:
When in the “My Registration” page, select:
‘MODIFICATION REQUEST’ button (at step 4)
– Log-in to your personal account on engage-sport.com or find your registration confirmation email sent from (ne-pas-repondre@engage-sports.com) and click the green button “Detail de mon Inscription”
– Access the “My Registration” page
– On the right-side of the registration screen, click the button marked “X Cancel my Registration” / “ X Annuler mon inscription”
Note: Your refund will be sent back to your credit card automatically. This usually takes less than 5 days, but can take up to 10 days if you have a non-EU bank card.
If your bank card has expired, then we cannot process an automatic refund. In this case, please check your email (including your spam/junk) for an email from engage-sport.com. We will request your IBAN (bank details) via a unique web-link, so that a manual refund can be organised for you via a bank transfer.
If your IBAN is not accepted, please check that it is valid, using a free checker site like this one.
Instead, we will simply check your medical certificate or UCI license at registration.
Please bring a photocopy with you because you must give it to us, to register (we will not return it).
Enduro2 really is a TEAM event, and the rules are designed to emphasise and encourage real teamwork.
Each team gets only one timing chip between them. The LAST rider to start each stage, wears the chip. The chip requires a manual “check” at the end of the stage, and this is done by the finish Marshall, not the rider…who will only do this when both riders are together at the end of the stage. In other words, you will get a better time if you stick together from start to finish and the lead rider actually “tows” the slower rider into the best lines. If the lead rider messes up, takes a line or misses a corner, this is the opportunity for your race parter to dive through the gap and take over the lead, saving your team yet more valuable time. There is certainly no time advantage at all, if the faster rider just blasts on ahead. Stopping mid-stage for spontaneous high-fives on the course is permitted, but not recommended.
There are many cool and inventive strategies that teams could use to maximise this teamwork aspect, but its up to you to chose what works best for you.
For the first stage of each day, yes. After that, No. You must ride the course in the pre-determined order, (Stage 1 —> Stage 2 —> Stage 3 etc), but you are free to start each stage whenever you are ready. Your only limit is to make it around the course, before the final cut-off times (which are generous).
“Gentleman’s Rules” apply – if a faster team wants to dive in before you, its probably best to let them go first. Maximum time between teams will be 20 to 30 seconds, but there is no minimum gap…4 and 6-rider party-trains are very much encouraged at Enduro2!
We allocate your race number and start order based on your self-seeding answers on your entry form.
Short-course riders will start last, in the same order each day.
E-bike riders do not have a separate start wave; the same rules apply.
Please be honest on your registration form. For example, If you claim to be a slow rider on your registration, you won’t be allowed on the podium!
We create the start order based on your team’s pace. (It’s no fun for anyone to have fastest and slowest teams starting at the same time).
So if you want to enjoy the course with your friends, we can allocate you consecutive race numbers, BUT this will mean you will start in the last wave (after 10am) each morning. Please let us know via your registration form who’s your group leader so we can put you together – you can edit this info even after you register, please do it at least 60 days before the race
The other possibility is that the first team can complete stage 1, then simply wait for their friends to also finish stage 1 before continuing together for the rest of the course. (Only Stage 1 has a defined start-order, each day. You can start Stage 2…3…4… whenever you want!)
We try hard to arrange a start order which is fair for everyone and allows us to run the event with the smallest delays and and wait times for our riders at the start of each stage, and at the lifts.
We’re sorry if your start order isn’t what you wanted, but it is essential that you stick to your allocated start time.
If you have a really big problem with your race number allocation, you must email us within 3 days of our start list publication.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL WE CONSIDER A REQUEST TO CHANGE YOUR NUMBER OR START ORDER AT RACE REGISTRATION ON SITE OR DURING THE WEEKEND OF THE RACE.
Sure thing! It doesn’t matter if you don’t complete all the stages each day or if you want to skip out some stages – you will be allowed to continue and to complete the event the following day.
After all, The Enduro2 philosiphy is: The only TIME that counts, is having a GOOD-TIME!
If this is your style, we’d suggest you register for the shorter course and have more time to relax on the liaisons between stages.
All riders must wear a FULL FACE helmet at all times whilst on a timed special stages. Helmets with a removable chin-guard are also accepted (Bell Super 2R, Giro Switchblade etc). During Liaison stages it is acceptable to wear a Half-Lid helmet (for example if you wish to carry a second helmet in your pack for use on the Liaison stages).
In addition to the helmet, all riders must wear:
Riders must also carry at all times during the event
No. Each day you start and finish at the same point, so we do not move camp / HQ each day. However we will set off in a different direction every morning and therefore each day will cover a totally different riding area before looping back to return to base at the end of the day
First riders depart between 08:30 and 10:30 each day. Lunch is provided on each of the two full days of riding (not on the 3rd day), at a mountain restaurant. One feedstation per day is also planned (water and snacks). The route will pass near to several local cafes and a supermarket, for riders wishing to purchase extra food en-route. We expect participants will complete the course and make it back to base camp between 13:30 and 18:15 each day (15:30-16:30 on the 3rd day which is a slightly shorter day).
A big part of the Enduro2 weekend, is the AFTER-PARTY. We start with a big BBQ, then after the Podium & Prize-giving (prizes for everyone, not the winners!) it’s straight into party-time with live music, DJ, and lots of dancing and good times.
Your team’s start wave time will be communicated to you in our online RACE BRIEFING.
Fitness in the endurance / strength conditioning sense, as well as mental focus and determination is more relevant than outright pace and / or climbing ability. That said, entrants will face fairly big days in the saddle (30-40Km, 6-7 hrs a day) on physical trails, in potentially hot conditions and at altitudes up to 2700m. Uplifts will be lift-assisted but some climbing (2 hours per day max) will also be required.
First of all, don’t only ride trail centres and man-made trails. If you are considering entering this event then you should already be at this level of competence, as a minimum. We’d therefore advise taking in as much natural terrain as you can, and ride in places you have not been to before. Practise riding challenging sections on sight, and as you would do against the clock. If you are not an experienced racer, practise at your “comfortable 70% pace”. (Where 100% would be the pace you would ride in a normal, pre-sighted Enduro race event). This is the pace that will certainly give you the best overall result at the Enduro2. Get out for some big epic rides and take note of your personal needs for nutrition and hydration. For (the minority) of you who are serious about competing to place highly, teamwork and communication skills will be important. Practise racing and riding together in a tight formation.
Also, go check out our free Enduro2 Fitness Training Guide by partner coach Mtb.Fitness, in the main menu.
The Enduro2 course has been selected to provide a variety of technicality. Warm-up trails will be of moderate to advanced technical level. However each day will include at least one technically very challenging trail (Double-Black-Diamond level) – and remember that it is all ridden blind and unpractised. Many of the trails are in a high alpine environment, outside of the controlled bike-park boundaries. Some trails involve a high level of exposure with no barriers of safety netting in the event of a fall, therefore a good level of general mountain awareness is required to participate safely. There will not be any jumps or drops without an easy alternative option.
No matter which category you enter, the atmosphere of Enduro2 is low-pressure. If you reach a section that is out of your depth, we encourage you to take your time and walk that section if you need to. You will not be the only one who does!
See Link in Menu
(More Info –> Short vs Full Course)
A lunchtime meal on Race Days 1 & 2 (not 3) at a local restaurant is included with your entry.
Water-stops en route are readily available in the form of public-use fountains and trail-side natural springs.
Where appropriate, we provide additional feed stations en route. The route liaisons pass through mountain towns and villages on a frequent basis, which allows racers to stop and purchase their own snacks, food and drinks if required. The resort has an ample supply of coffee shops, supermarkets, restaurants and take-away stores.
We offer Standard (Meat) and Vegetarian options for the included lunch.
We are not able to cater for any specific dietary requirements or allergies.
During the race, we will use various ski-lifts and occasionally coach-based shuttles to transport you and your bike, and these are used at the owner’s risk. You are responsible for your own bike’s security during the event and the organisers cannot take responsibility for loss or theft. No secure overnight bike storage is provided by the organisers.
We’d recommend taking a small personal bike lock in your bag, for extra security in case you leave your bike to enter a bar, shop or restaurant during the event.
Limited bike support is available in resort. At most races we aim to partner with a local mechanic service to provide an urgent repairs service, but this is not always guaranteed. There are a selection of other local bike shops in town that offer spares and service capability.
We advise all riders to bring your own spares where possible, especially for bike-specific components such as brake pads, spare spokes, mech hangars etc. More importantly, make sure your bike is in good condition before you arrive – freshly bled brakes, new brake pads and rotors, strong DH or Enduro-casing tyres with inserts, gears in tune, suspension recently serviced.
We have several dedicated first-responders on our team who will provide first-aid and further treatment / advice should you need it. If emergency hospital treatment is required, we will liase with emergency services as required. For non-urgent cases or treatments outside of racing hours, you may need to make your own arrangements should you wish to travel to a hospital (e.g. taxi). Closest hospital is around 30 minutes by car, from race HQ. If you miss your airport transfer or onward travel due to injury, you will need to make your own arrangements for onward travel and assistance. (Travel insurance highly recommended!)
Self-sufficient supporters are very welcome to spectate during the race and join us for the after-party!
If you’d like to volunteer to join our team (food, drinks, and other gifts are provided by us!) please email ali@enduro2.fr for info.
We do not provide an official recharge station. However, you may ask at race HQ if needed and usually we have a few spare power outlets you can use. (Immediately after the race, and from 7am-10am each morning). We have space of about 3-5 bikes at a time. This is NOT monitored by our crew so please use a lock for extra security . We do not take responsibility for theft or damage!
See our “Accommodation” link in the menu.
ACCESS TO ALETSCH (warning : Bettmeralp is a car-free resort – check the app for more info)
We will adhere to the local regulations and recommendations in force at the time of the event. At the time of opening registration for 2024 we do not expect to enforce any specific health, vaccine, or test requirements.
Our Standard Cancelation policies will apply – see above
