ENDURO2

Racing Reimagined in the Swiss Alps

VERBIER

SWITZERLAND – VALAIS // 5-7 JULY

HUGE SUCCESS FOR THIS NEW ENDURO2 VENUE

What do you get when you mix world-class singletrack, alpine scenery so good it makes you forget you’re racing, and the kind of laughs that only come from going elbow-to-elbow with your best riding mate for three days straight? You get Enduro2 Verbier — and as the latest edition in this long-running, multi-destination pairs-format series, it might just have been the best one yet.
Positioned as Verbier’s official grand-summer-opening weekend event (5–7 July), this iconic mountain town in Switzerland played host to the latest edition of the Enduro2 Series—Europe’s original and best-loved pairs-format enduro stage race. With 11,000m of descending over 3 days, 17 hand-picked timed stages, and a deliberately “uplift-heavy” itinerary, it delivered a no-compromise mountain bike experience that was as much about the journey, good times and camaraderie as the racing itself.

A Race Built for Two

Unlike traditional enduro events where it’s every rider for themselves, Enduro2 is all about

pairs racing—you and your riding buddy, racing together, side-by-side, wheel-to-wheel, start-to-
finish.

No egos. No pressure to podium. Just flat-out riding, dialled trails, and the kind of shared stoke that only comes from carving through alpine singletrack bliss…with your teammate yelling endless profanities whilst glued to your back wheel.

Every descent, every switchback, every sketchy rock garden is tackled in tandem – and completely blind.

Yes, It’s competitive —but it’s also a three-day rollercoaster of laughs & mutual support, sharing all the highs and the inevitable lows. The race rewards not just raw speed, but chemistry, team-work and consistency, and celebrates the moments in between—the high fives: the shared mechanicals, the hangovers, the inside jokes, the high-fives at the end of every stage.

The Trails: Hand-Picked Heaven

From the flowing pine-needled loam of Bruson to the warp-speed ridgelines and techy rock-fests down into Verbier proper, this year’s course was nothing short of sublime.

Organisers delivered a route that felt curated, not cobbled together—local knowledge gleaned by 2 years of working together with local guides at MTBVerbier, meeting world-class race course design.

The 17 Stages ranged from twelve-minute, brutal forearm-burners to 5-minute flow-state blasts. But there was always one constant: big grins, bigger views, and stages you’d certainly come back to ride again, just for fun.

Transfers were designed to be scenic, social, and achievable—leaving enough gas in the tank to go full beans where it counts.

Want to spend hours slogging up fire roads? Do it at home, in your own time.

Our goal? Maximise time on the good stuff – there’s no ‘fillers’ at Enduro2. Many riders commented that the liaisons on Day 2 were in fact some of the best trails they’d ever ridden, never mind raced!

The Vibe: Alpine Camaraderie at its Best

With teams from sixteen countries descending on Verbier, this year’s race was as much about the people as the trails.

Local support crews, a welcoming town-centre HQ, and the unmistakable “we’re-all-in-this-together” energy created a vibe that was half race, half festival. Countless friendships were forged over bike racks, in lift-lines, at the start-gates, and over a free beer every evening – included in your race entry – at Verbier’s renowned Pub Mont Fort.

Podium-Worthy Performances

Despite the relaxed atmosphere, competition was fierce and tensions were high at the sharp end. Things quickly got extremely messy on the podium as ‘Team Wales’ whipped out a beer-bong and before we knew it, beer-funnelling whilst cheered on by a 400-strong rowdy crowd became a mandatory right of passage for all the winners. We’re pleased to report that the ladies stepped up and smashed it equally as well as any of the guys! Indeed one of our proudest stats at Enduro2 is the regularly strong showing from our amazing female Enduro2 contingent with typically 20-25% of registrations being from female or mixed teams.

RESULTS

Fastest overall this weekend was a clean-sweep of GB teams with barley a minute between them over the full 3 days: Sam ROBSON & Ieuan WILLIAMS (76:34) in a closely fought battle with EDR Top-Ten Leigh JOHNSON & Charles JONES (77:02), narrowly in front of Scott EDGWORTH & Ian AUSTERMUHLE (77:42).  Honourable mention goes to to Rowan SORREL and Leon ROSSER (77:59) in 4th place who were fully on for the podium, before falling victim to a flat tyre on the penultimate stage of the weekend.

In the Mixed Pairs category, Trans-Madeira Winner Becci SKELTON & partner Jamie HAYNES (GB) came out on top with a total time of 88:04, narrowly ahead of WATTS & PERRY (GB) (90:07) and MEYRAT & OPPLIGER (CH) (93:57).

Other Category winners included BINER & BARBEZAT (CH) (93:17) – Female Pair  |  MICHIELS &DE FROIDMONT (BE) (86:49) – E-Bike |  LUSMORE & GANAL (GB) (83:37) – 77+ Combined Age  |  SAVICKIS & BISHOP (GB) (84:56) – 100+ Combined Age.

But whether you finished first or fiftieth, the real win was sharing every single stage with someone who matched your stoke, your pace—(or perhaps just your ability to carry the team-snacks and get the rounds in at the bar).

Looking Ahead: Méribel 2025 & Verbier 2026

Enduro2 is a growing series of events, having already delivered the goods in Les Arcs, Meribel, Davos, Verbier, and even in New Zealand.  Where’s next?  You can be sure the organisers trailAddiction (the same crew behind the Trans-Savoie and NZ MTB Rally) will have something new up there sleeve in the coming years.   And the good news? You can still be part of it.

A handful of team spots remain for the Méribel edition this August 2025. Expect high-altitude magic, 20-minute Alpine Ridgeline stages and that signature Enduro2 flow. Don’t snooze, at the time of writing only 18 slots remain.

Entries for Enduro2 2026 (including Verbier) open this December—and based on the buzz from this year’s riders, they won’t stay open for long (Verbier 2025 sold out in 10 minutes and was 4x oversubscribed by the time we shut down the wait-list).

Final Thoughts: Is Your Race Really Better When Shared?

There’s a reason so many riders keep coming back to Enduro2.

It’s that rare thing in racing: genuine connection. With your teammate. With the trails. With the people you meet and the memories you make.

Because when you ride together, race together, and share every high and low—from punctures to podiums—the experience gets better. The stoke gets stronger. And the stories get way, way funnier.
